About Murphy

Murphy is a retail landlord-rep advisor focused on helping developers and independent investors maximize the value of their retail properties throughout West Michigan. He specializes in leasing and advisory work for restaurants, shopping centers, and neighborhood retail, consistently approaching each assignment from the owner’s perspective. With a detail-oriented and analytical approach, he works to present clear strategies that support long-term asset performance and future investment goals.

Murphy is known for his work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to evaluate properties through the lens of a landlord or developer. His goal is to become a leading expert in the retail CRE landscape and a trusted partner to local owners as they lease, reposition, and sell their assets. He is actively involved in the West Michigan brokerage community and maintains strong relationships with other brokers and market participants.

Born and raised in Grand Rapids, Murphy has a strong connection to the local market and its continued growth. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Finance with a Minor in Real Estate from Michigan State University, where he gained early industry exposure through a research role with a Lansing-based commercial real estate firm. Shortly after graduation, he joined Advantage CRE and has since spent more than two and a half years focused on the retail sector. His growing portfolio includes restaurants, strip centers, and larger shopping centers such as Green Orchard Shopping Center.

Murphy’s professional affiliations include CARWM’s Networking and Events Committee, ICSC membership, associate membership in the Economic Club of Grand Rapids, and CCIM candidate status. Outside of work, he enjoys sailing, skiing, golfing, and staying engaged with the local commercial real estate community.
